The Beautiful Letdown
Thursday, 21 June 2007

Books slamming shut everywhere.
Hiss of anger and dismay.
With sad finality I closed mine too.
The ending sucked.
As usual.
Happily ever after doesn't exist.
Excitement does.
Tricky things, emotions.
Lure you up the heights of ecstasy
only so you can create your own drama
by casting yourself over the edge,
declaring as you fall the hopelessness of it all.
Afterall,
the way up was barred.
So what faster way to break the dead end, my impatient little friend?
than to hurl yourself,
(consciously denying,
unconsciously embracing
the
excitement)
over the edge
bemoaning your (self-created) tragedy.
Freefall and start over.

doesn't make much sense, does it?
well, so does the thing it represents.
